FOLDERS ON HOMESCREEN

Ok, so I was playing around with widgets and I accidentally changed something about my homescreen and I’m not sure how to undo it. Every time I open one of the my folders, the background of my homescreen dims. When I exit off of the folder, my homescreen returns to full brightness. How do I undo this? I’ve tried somethings in settings. Hopefully I explained this clearly.

That’s the way it is intended to work. When a folder is open you can only access the contents of that folder.
