In Finder preferences I have the same old list of folder “shortcuts” as before. They no longer appear. Further, I can’t drag a folder icon into the Finder sidebar to create a new shortcut. What happened?

In Big Sur, I can drag a folder from the Finder Window to the Favorites side bar and it remains there, until I drag it out of the Finder Favorites lists again. If you have no Favorites showing, click the word "Favorites" in the Finder Window side panel to reveal them.
Thanks for your reply, VikingOSX. That worked. I’m curious as to how “Favorites” got “unchecked” on my laptop with this IPL, but no matter. It’s fixed.
