To 'toggle the settings' as suggested, is a way to try & make it work.
After awhile, if not successful, further troubleshoot may be indicated.
This is one of two main resets that could be useful to resolve the issue.

Another thing may be to see if SMC reset could help. As instructions had
changed with newer systems and hardware; this is not traditional answer.
