Apple TV

I have just bought an apple MacBook Pro, and spoon buying I was promised 1 year free of Apple TV and to my sadness I am unable to find anywhere to redeem this and begin using. Every time I go on Apple TV is is asking me to begin paying £4.99 a month to access any shows. Please someone help!
