Free up memory from Apple Mail

I need to free up space on my MacBook Air. A bunch of storage is taken up by Apple Mail, which I don't even use. How do I free up that memory? (When I open Apple Mail, there aren't any messages there to delete, so I'm not even sure where the 6GB is coming from...)

In Finder, hold the Option key and click the Go menu > Library. Look for the Mail folder, which is where Mail stores it's data (the V# folder is the version of Mail).
