Restoring my ipod touch (4th gen)

i recently re-found my 4th generation ipod touch i had when i was a kid and recharged it but it says (ipod is disabled connect to itunes) with no options to do anything, so i connected it to my laptop and to my mums itunes that we used to use, but it wouldn't let me connect and asked my to type in the pin (which i have forgotten:( ), then i looked to get in to the ipod on apple website and it told me to back up my ipod the reset it then restore, but the problem is i cant back it up because of the itunes thing above, so basically does anyone have any tips or stuff ? :)
