taking a screen shot

since I upgraded to Catalina version. I can't take a screen shot. why? please help. thank you

shift command 4 captures and then moves off the screen Capturing a section of the screen no longer works properly. Using shift+cmd+4 initially captures OK but the image on the desktop then disappears off the right side of the screen. On checking Finder there is no record of the screenshot. In the past I was always able leave the images on screen until I needed them. I am still running Catalina but whether this makes a difference? Any help to solve this would be much appreciated. Ken

How to take a screenshot with Catalina? Usually shift-command-4 allows to select a portion of screen and get a screen shot ont the desktop. Since I installed Catalina, when using these keys, There is a noise (of error I believe) and nothing happens. Looking for any advice!

When you press "command shift 5" and click Options, what is set?

FWIW, if you are running Dropbox make sure "Share screenshots…" is unchecked in the Dropbox preferences.
