Photoshop + GPU = Black Screen

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015) with AMD Radeon R9 M290 2 GB running Photoshop 21.1.1 Release and Catalina 10.15.3

Photoshop has a black screen unless I disable my GPU. Would prefer to use GPU for faster photoshop. Adobe tech support says I need to upgrade my GPU driver. AMD says it is part of the operating system. Help?

iMac 27", OS X 10.11

Did Adobe Support say they (Adobe) supported that Graphics card? Here is a link to their supported graphics/video cards for Photoshop,

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cc-gpu-card-faq.html

That page goes on to say,

“The following card series are no longer being tested and are not officially supported in Photoshop:

  • AMD/ATI 100, 200, 3000, and 4000 series
  • nVidia GeForce 7000, 8000, 9000, 100, 200, 300 series
  • Older Intel® HD Graphics (for example 2000, 3000, 4000 series) cards

Some GL functionality may be available for these cards, but newer features won't work.”

Your series card, 200 series, is not being tested and is not supported.

Time for a newer Mac I’m afraid.
