Catalina Back to Mojave or older than mojave

I'm using Catalina now but I would like to go back to Mojave, but when I do the down loading

the Mojave it won't do telling me I've up to date OS Catalina. Please help on how to go back to Mojave. Thanks!

you need to boot your Mac from external usb macOS installer, and use disk utility to erase target drive (don't forget about backup of your files). if you cannot do this, the only way is to restore macOS by the internet
