Safari passwords locked

My apple id password doesn't open them despite it being the correct password for my apple id!

Use the user password for the account you are logged into.

Safari suggests password and then doesn't remember it A website asked me to reset my password and Safari suggested a coded password so I accepted it. Then tried to log into the web site and the new password isn't saved in the keychain so I am logged out yet again! I saw this was an issue back in 2019 - has it really not been fixed by now?
