MacBook will turn on and I can connect it to another screen and use it, but its actual screen is black

My screen is black and Im not sure what to do to fix it. It will turn on and I can connect it to another screen and use it, but its actual screen is black. Any suggestions?

Go step by step and test.

Press the Brightness button couple of times.

Reset PRAM:  Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Reset  SMC:   How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support   Choose the appropriate method.
