My MacBook pro crashes and won’t turn back on leaving it for months sometimes it will start and work for a while and then crash again. I’ve just found if i reset the SMC it will turn on but crash when I try and log in and won’t restart until I reset the SMC again. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is the SMC a part that can be replaced?

Sorry first time doing this it had me select what device this was for so I thought maybe it auto filled or something. 2012 macbook pro retina 15 inch, running Mojave.
