Every time I try to export from iMovie, I get a file that will only play in VLC, but not Quicktime. Exporting to 1080, High Quality, Best quality compression.
Any ideas?

The movie should play on QT.
Try making a test movie and exporting out with different settings. On one of your test exports try using Best Quality (pro res). That would give you a .mov file rather than an Mp4 file. See if that plays in QT.

Thanks Rich. Well, today it worked! Strange, yesterday when it wasn't working I did all the things you should do, like restart etc, but no luck. Today, no problem! The only thing that has changed is a security update to 10.13.6, which I installed this morning....maybe that was the issue
What version of QT Player are you using? What operating system?
