It says, "Unable to run diagnostics. DEC 500.

Press 'S' to shut down or R to restart your computer

Try running AppleDiagnostics again... etc.

Apple Diagnostics require a Mac introduced since June, 2013. Your Mac is too old for this tool.

Here is what you need to do instead.

  • Did you ever see the Apple Hardware Test icon as described in the article?
  • Did you attempt starting while holding option-D as suggested in the article under "Learn More"?
  • Otherwise, please describe exactly what's happening regarding a startup disk, current OS X version, etc.

Well, you’ve told us it’s a late 2010 MacBook Air and that’s all we know about the machine. The article has more clues. Perhaps you didn’t remove all external connections as required. Perhaps there are some unacceptable hardware components in your system.

It sounds like time to visit an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center and let them assess the Mac and advise you.
