When importing a7RIV raw files from a SD card via Lightning card reader, thumbnail images can be viewed when using the photos app import feature. However when using the Files app only a blank representation of the file with the file name is visible. Is this a glitch that can be fixed in a future update or just the way it's going to be?
I have the Sony a7iii with the same issue the saved photos are white blank, Apple please resolve this problem as soon as possible, many photographers whom work with affinity photo will face this issue.

Yes, this is a work around if a person wants the files downloaded into the photos app. However if you want to selectively download to a folder, (i.e. just a few photos from a card) you have no option but to guess at the files content. Here is hoping Apple will fix this issue soon.
yes, this is a problem.. I can import the raw files, see the images then once you import, grey boxes of the images.. Apple gets rid of Aperture to run everything off Photos and you run into these issues time and time again.. So annoying..
I found away to go around it, the issue will be resolved if you open the raw files through photo import.
Now I can edit my photos again.
Further investigation reveals that the RAW files from the Sony a7R IV are apparently not readable by iOS 13+++ even in the photos app. Apple please fix this ASAP.
I am having same problem with raw files from my Sony A7RIV. Can import them but cannot view any of my photos. This is not good as some of us depend on RAW support for our workflows! Please fix ASAP
And Apple says this is a photographers tool? I depend on my iPad Pro supporting latest RAW. Apple get your act together
The issue has resolved in iOS 13.2 all Sony a7riv raw files now open in photo and file.
ok but Mac OS hasn't been updated and I use my laptop for most of my file transfers and edits.. Hopefully in the next update... fingers crossed
Just tried on my iPad. Still not working.
To clarify, a7R IV raw files are visible, however, thumbnails are not.
ios 13.1.1 can see Sony a7rIV raw files in the photos app as images but not in the Files app
