MacBook Air Won’t Connect to Wifi

I have a MacBook Air purchased last spring and I’m having issues with the connection. Though the wifi states that it is connected, I have no internet access on both Safari and apps. I’ve tried clearing caches, clearing my history, running an anti-virus scan, even the classic “turn it off and back on again.” Nothing has helped, and I desperately need my laptop to teach my students. Any recommendations or assistance would be greatly appreciated. The nearest Apple store is 9 hours away from where I live, so that’s not currently an option for me. I’ve tried everything I could think of and any suggested tips I could find.
