Generic app icons

Out of the blue, generic icons for some apps but not all. Reinstalled from Command-R, reset P-Ram, repaired with Disk Utility but no joy. Options?

Drag the generic icons up and out of the Dock till you see the Remove label. open your Applications folder

and then drag the 'removed' apps icon back into the left hand side of the Dock.
