Google Pixel 3a and Apple music

I have downloaded app music app on my Google Pixel 3A and it is not allow me to download any music onto the phone. Is there any reason why this is happening? Are there any type of troubleshooting method that I can do to fix this besides force stop, clear cache, and turning phone off for 30 sec then back on? I just brought this phone and I want to make sure before my next monthly parent that I can use it.
