Upgrade OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 to what ever it will upgrade to
I have downloaded El Capitan and will not load and then tries Mojave and it says it will not upgrade either. Help

It would be nice if you had included what Mac you have and what age it is, this determines what OS you can upgrade to.
Upgrading your Mac to a newer OS can only been done through the App Store. Read the following links thoroughly.

Please note that if the App Store detects that your Mac can upgrade to a newer OS than El Capitan you will be refused the download of El Capitan.
Make a full back up first, see if any third party apps you use have updates available so they will work in the new OS. also check that any printers/ scanners etc that you use have updated drivers and software so they will continue to function in the new OS.
