partial word count in pages
I'm an editor and I need to be able to tell a client just how far along in a document I am in order to extrapolate how many words per hour a job is taking. Now, in Word it's easy—I simply place the cursor next to the last word I've edited on my Mac and press Shift + Cmd + Fn + either the left arrow to highlight all text left of the cursor, which tells me how many words I've edited, or I do the same with the right arrow, which tells me how many words are left unedited. That way I can say, "I'm x% of the way through the doc and it should take me x hours to finish." But some of my clients are transitioning to Pages, which, while I have it on all of my Macs, is new to me.
However, Pages just appears to give me a total word count which doesn't help with this task. Does anyone know keyboard shortcuts to highlight a portion of the doc (without manually paging through it—some of the books I edit are hundreds of pages long), either back to the beginning from that midpoint, or midpoint to the end, AND whether Pages will calculate the word count for that portion?
Much obliged!
