Microphone problems on a MacBook with a Sequoia 15.5

Hello, good afternoon. I'm experiencing problems on 8 MacBooks after updating to version 15.5. The problem is that the microphone saturates after going to sleep or standby. This is solved by restarting the computer, but if it goes to sleep, the problem returns. Has this happened to anyone else and how have you been able to solve it without restoring the machine?

From what you tell us, the problem is that your microphone shows failures when the Mac is put to sleep.


The problem may be due to a software and/or settings issue, so I recommend that you check the following:


  1. From Settings under Sound, check that the entry is something like this: "MacBook Pro Microphone - Built-in"
  2. From Settings under Lock Screen, check that the options under Accessibility Options are all disabled, and check to see if any yellow triangle alerts are displayed ⚠️ about any incompatible settings.
  3. Try uninstalling software and drivers that might interfere with the MacBook Pro's microphone.
  4. Try booting the Mac in safe mode, to check if it is a problem with macOS or third-party software.
  5. Try reinstalling macOS
  6. Contact Apple Technical Support to assess a hardware failure.

Por lo que nos comentas, el problema es que su micrófono muestra fallos al ponerse el Mac en reposo.


Puede que el problema sea debido a un tema de software y/o ajustes, por ello, le recomiendo que revise lo siguiente:


  1. Desde Ajustes en el apartado Sonido, revise que la entrada es algo así: "Micrófono del MacBook Pro - Integrado"
  2. Desde Ajustes en el apartado Pantalla de Bloqueo, revise que las opciones en Opciones de Accesibilidad están todas desactivadas, y revise si se mostrara alguna alerta con un triángulo amarillo ⚠️ sobre alguna configuración incompatible.
  3. Pruebe a desinstalar softwares y drivers que pudieran interferir con el micrófono del MacBook Pro.
  4. Intente arrancar el Mac en modo seguro, para comprobar si es un problema del software de macOS o de alguno de terceros.
  5. Pruebe a reinstalar macOS
  6. Contacte con el Soporte Técnico Oficial de Apple para valorar un fallo de hardware

If you already checked the provided information and ruled out hardware issues, I would recommend to run the Mac diagnostic. Later, if you don't find any issue with the diagnostic result, I would recommend to reinstall macOS as you told us.


Apart from that, I understand your are thinking on installing a macOS beta on your Mac. I would not recommend that, the beta software from Apple it's only recommended for not primary devices, as it may contain bugs or other problems that can make your computer to loss data and other issues.
