Apple Cash Account Restricted: Establish new Apple ID or just use third party apple like Cash App?

Apple Cash would not let me verify my Identity. When I filled out the address information it kept saying that I submitted at PO box. I didn’t submit a PO box. My account is now restricted because it appears the software didn’t provide the information I was submitting to Green Dot for auto verification.

After 2 hours on the phone with Apple Cash, Apple Support and Apple IOS support I was told I need to abandon my apple ID and create a new one. Is this the correct answer or should I just use Cash App and keep my apple ID?

i was also hung up on twice by apple support…please help

Apple Cash isn’t available in many countries. If your Apple ID is set to a country where Apple Cash isn’t supported (for example, India), that Apple ID simply cannot use Apple Cash.

Some people create a second Apple ID using a country where Apple Cash is supported—but there’s a catch. Apple requires a valid payment method and billing address from that country to verify the Apple ID. If you don’t actually live there or don’t have a local payment method, Apple may not allow the setup.

In short:

No Apple Cash unless your Apple ID country supports it, and switching to another region isn’t as easy as checking a box—it usually requires real local credentials.

Thanks for the reply. I am from the USA and have all of the credentials. I also have my state drivers license verified by real ID and in my apple wallet. I have used the Apple Cash in the past and I think I hit a dollar amount that forced verification.

I truly think that this is a iOS issue or it could be an issue of the way the information is transferred from iOS to the programming language used by Green Dot for ID verification. I just wish someone at Apple could give me a better solution than to establish a new Apple ID...

If I were to establish a new Apple ID, what are the steps to merge it with my current Apple ID? This info might be helpful because I also have an old Apple ID out there so I could create and new one and merge the two into the new one.

Is it normal to have to create new Apple ID and merge it in order to fix bugs in iOS?

The link you posted has nothing to do with fixing bugs in iOS. Some users had created multiple Apple Account and wanted them to be combined into one, so Apple added the feature to migrate the accounts. That has nothing to do with the identity check on your Apple Cash account.

The issue I had was when it came to verifying my ID for Apple Cash the software for iOS and the Green Dot certification software appears to not us the address information entered by the user…It kept saying I was entering a PO box for my address when I deleted the auto entered PO box and then submitted my address physical address without any PO box. There is something going on here and there appears to be a bug in IOS from my personal perspective.
