In support of D.I. Johnson's recommendation you might consider the following: Google is known to "phone home" with users data as was found out with this new Google Photos service:  Google Photos may be free — but there's still a cost.

Also consider the following:

You might want to reconsider using Chrome as your browser after reading these:

Just some food for thought.

If you don't like Safari give Firefox or Brave (Chrome without Google's intrusion to your privacy) a try.  They are much more secure and safer than Chrome.

If you want to investigate your troubles with Safari we can do that here. It may help to know what sites you are having trouble with. That would be a great way to see if the problem only occurs on your device or others too. If it only happens on your device, we can look further into any third party processes in your Launch Folders that may be causing a conflict.

Common problems include using a VPN and Extensions that you may have installed on Safari. To be honest I use Safari exclusively and there has not been a single website that I have been unable to access. Web Site developers can target a specific preferred browser that are optimized for their use, but Safari is based on the same WebKit standard that is also used by many other browsers.

I am also using Mac OS 15.7.3 and there was a recent update for Safari that you may find in Settings for Software Updates to update it to version 26.2 I have not had trouble with either the 26.1 or 26.2 version.

thanks Jim I may come back to you I am on 26.2. iPhone seems fine other than that i'm on the Mac studio

basically a lot of times in safari a URL doesn't fully load or hangs. so if it doesn't happen in chrome, it isn't my modem or speed. i will read these articles maybe reinstall chrome and decide what to do. one question I have malewarebytes installed which blocks certain sites. just mentioning.

example: https://pagesix.com/photos/. in chrome all th pix load, in safari they do not....

I can confirm that all photos load instantly on the link you provided using Safari and like you, I am on OS 15.7.3.

I would recommend removing MalwareBytes as it does contain a VPN. I don't have any problem with MalwareBytes when doing the free one time scans, but would not have it running constantly on your computer which is what it does when installed for constant monitoring. I think others would agree with me, but will let them speak for themselves.

One other thing I should mention on the link you posted is that they are partnered with Google to provide them data of your activity on the site when you are signed into a Google Account. I don't like this monitoring and data harvesting that is done by Google when you are signed into the account. When you are not signed in with a Google Account you will see a prompt to use the Google Account to sign in, which can be dismissed. Otherwise you will be signed in automatically, which is likely being done by Chrome, and in my opinion that is a privacy concern where Google is using you as a product to sell your information to advertisers. I would not recommend being signed into a Google account, and even for Google searches, in the upper right corner you will be able to see if you are signed in with the option to sign out.

Anyways, we are always here to help.

thanks glad I mentioned malware. I agree on google. but I do have gmail so I have to have chrome installed to get my email right?

You can add your gmail account to the standard Mail app on your Mac. There is no need to use Chrome to access your gmail and I also have a gmail account added to the Mail app on my Mac. Here is a Support Article that will help adding the account and the account type you will want to choose is Google, then just enter your email address and the gmail password.

Gmail web mail works from Safari and most any other standards-compliant browser, and a Gmail account configured within Apple Mail app also works.

Google wants to hoover your mail data and your contacts, among other personal metadata and data. They don't want to limit their ability to hoover your mail data and metadata and contacts to a just a single web browser that hoovers data. Most any standards-compliant web browser will work with Google webmail, and same for most any standards-compliant mail client.

No. You can add your Gmail account to Apple's Mail app and not have to go to the website ever

By using the Mail app there's no reason to have to use a browser and access your mail online.

Launch Mail and bring up its Settings and click on Accounts. Then click on the + button to add your Gmail account. You'll need your Gmail user name and password.

As you can see I have 4 mail accounts I manage thru Mail (one is inactive).
