Can't delete Rosetta assets from Bin

I do not know how but I have rosetta assets in my Bin that I cannot remove. I have unprotected them, used sudo, ...

I also note that

sudo lsof | grep libRosettaAot.dylib

oahd       656                 _oahd    4r      REG               1,18    423488             2088820 /Library/Apple/usr/lib/libRosettaAot.dylib

Which seems to indicate that I have another version in its rightful place anyway.

I just find it very messy to have these trash items over which I have no control. Any ideas?

Rosetta exists only on Apple silicon Macs.

Those files cannot be deleted because they are currently in use by the system process oahd, which handles Rosetta translation.

This is normal macOS behavior, not a bug.

If you really want to remove them, try one of these:

  • Restart the Mac and empty the Bin immediately after login
  • Or boot into macOS Recovery (power off → hold power button → Options) and empty the Bin there

In most cases, it’s best to leave them alone — macOS will manage Rosetta automatically.
