iPhone Mail app showing total emails instead of unread count

Just had to replace my iPhone, and got a 17 Pro Max. Using the native email app, when I open mail it tells me how many emails I have in total for each email account. On my last phone it would only show me how many unread emails I had. I would like only see how many unread emails I have. How do I switch this?
