Orange Siri indicator light constantly on after iOS update

IOS 26.2 Orange light at top of screen which indicates Siri listening is constantly ON since update. tried restart etc

Open Control Center, and at the top, you'll see the icon for the camera or microphone and which app was using it most recently.

If Control Center displays “Unknown Device” next to the microphone or camera indicator, it may indicate that an accessory connected via Lightning, USB-C, or Bluetooth — such as an external microphone, webcam, or certain headsets — is requesting audio or video input, but iOS is unable to fully identify the device.

Thanks. ive now established that if i turn Voice Control off, the Orange light goes off. Ive had Voice Control turned on for years cos i need it, but the Orange light didnt use to be on, its only changed since the update. Ive always had Voice Control switched on, and you can just say ''wake up, or go to sleep'' when you want it to listen or not, and this was always indicated with the Blue VC light that would go on or off when its listening or not. The Blue still does the same, but the Orange is just constantly on. Is my phone constantly listening now? Thanks

If you have Voice Control turned on, the phone is constantly listening, whether you noticed a light before or not.

Voice control uses the mike.

The mike shows the 🟠.

If using voice control, the 🟠 should show.

So to put it differently, you are asking why the 🟠 was not previously shown. Presumably, a bug got fixed. Or the 🟠 was unnoticed.
