iOS passcode lockout triggering too quickly on newest update

After the recent iOS update, my iPhone started locking itself after only 2–3 incorrect passcode attempts.

I don’t use Face ID, so this is purely from mistyping the passcode. It immediately shows “iPhone unavailable try again in 1 minute” which never happened go me before.

This is too sensitive and creates problems for people with vision or dexterity issues.

Apple really needs to fix this or allow users to disable the quick lockout. Is anyone else seeing this?

I still see the 1 minute delay after the 4th incorrect attempt, just as it always has been.

  • 5th incorrect attempt = 5 minutes
  • 6th incorrect attempt = 15 minutes
  • 7th incorrect attempt = 1 hour
  • 8th incorrect attempt = 3 hours
  • 9th incorrect attempt = 8 hours
  • 10th incorrect attempt = Device reset

There is not an option to disable the security measure. Of course without it a Brute Force attack will always be able to gain access and the Passcode would be meaningless.
