How do I get a refund for an unauthorized Apple Lens Scan Pro subscription?

I signed up for the Apple Lens Scan Pro app and was charged $79.99 after a free three day trial.

I placed a notification on the third day to remind me to cancel. I did so but was still charged for a yearly subscription. This is unacceptable.

Apple has now dropped in my estimation and this type of behavior is very untoward.

I called to ask for a refund and was told my request would be reviewed. It was still denied. I will not let this go. I will keep on fighting until Apple relents. This type of scam is not going away. I’m sure others have had the same experience.

Apple does not make an app called Lens Scan Pro at all.

It may be an app in the App Store, but that does not mean it is made by Apple at all.

If it had a free trial, and you never cancelled it, those usually renew into paid subscriptions. As mentioned, this does not happen on its own or by mistake as you need to consciously go to the app entry in the App Store, tap on the Get button, confirm the purchase and then very it either with Face ID, Touch ID or your password and then not cancel the free trial. It doesn't simply happen unauthorized. It happened because you let it happen and you were aware it would happen.

You can cancel the subscription from your account. click here ➜ If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support

Do note, Apple is under no obligation to grant you a refund.

Did you read the message on the screen before you double clicked the side button to approve the Free Trial that said to avoid subscription charges you should cancel the free trial a day before the subscription renewal? That would be what you agreed to. Next time if you have no interest in a subscription charge, set the reminder to cancel a day before the subscription start date. Problem solved! and users that do that experience no subscription charge.

By the way, it is the same for Android phones in the Google Play Store.

Once you activate a free trial through the Google Play store, you will need to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged for the annual subscription.

In both stores, transactions are considered final. At times Apple may provide a compassionate refund on a case by case basis, but it should never be expected.
