forgotten passcode for ipad

If you see a waiting period you can wait and try again. If the iPad is actually disabled, or one for which you have forgotten the passcode, Apple provides different solutions depending upon the system version you are using and other criteria --> If you see an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro unavailable message or Security Lockout screen - Apple Support This does not require a computer.

Either, intentionally disable to reset password, by just spamming your password (this does take a WHILE of waiting because of the disabled wait) or head down to a apple store or TRUSTED repair store and ask to reset your password (this could cost ya if your unlucky)

The OP said passcode, not password. And even if it was a forgotten password the iPad is not necessarily a brick. it's just a different set of solutions.
