MacBook M3 cannot set recommended resolution for LG

I am not able to connect my LG Widescreen to a Macbook M3.

The message om the wide screen states the following:

The screen is currently not set to the recommended resolution

Configure the PC resolution to 2560x1080/60Hz

Current resolution 2560x1080/75Hz

Recommended resolution 2560x1080/60Hz

The screen settings on my Macbook does not (select all resolutions) does not have 2560x1080. When I connected a Windows PC to the screen it all worked just fine

What should I do?

Enable “Show All Resolutions” (but do it the advancedway)

The basic “Show all resolutions” toggle is not enough.

You need the hidden “Option-click trick”.

Steps:

  1. Open System Settings → Displays
  2. Hold Option (⌥) on your keyboard
  3. While holding Option, click “Show All Resolutions”
  4. Now click the drop-down for your LG monitor
  5. second set of resolutions will appear, including:
    • 2560 × 1080 (60 Hz)
    • 2560 × 1080 (low resolution)
    • 2560 × 1080 HiDPI (if available)

This works on many LG 21:9 ultrawides.
