Had a device added through Apple Configurator on October 10th, 2024, today I was able to release it from ABM during user enrollment after a wipe, well outside the 30 day window. I haven't seen this issue mentioned anywhere, is it a new thing, or a setting which needs to be changed somewhere?

Is your MDM set to be removable by the user? Is your MDM set up to release devices from Apple Business Manager?
MDM is not set to be removable, not on supervised devices, which this was.
Afaik, my MDM does not support that feature (intune), but the device wasn't released before it was released from ABM by the user, so i don't think that is the issue in either case.
I also tested this on regular vendor enrolled devices, there it was not an issue, so only devices enrolled through Configurator seems to be removable after the 30-days window.
User able to release device from ABM after 30 days.
