Apple techs unable to migrate data to my new iMac- now what??

My 2019 iMac, was starting to be slow connecting, so I bought a $2,000 new one with I TB memory. Didn’t even leave the store with the new one since I had made a Genius Bar appointment for the data migration. Then the store notifies me that two techs had tried and failed to do the migration. Now what am I supposed to do?

If your old Mac had a failing or failed internal storage drive, then that would explain why they could not use it to migrate to the new Mac. Another possibility, is that your data was lost during the Genius Bar troubleshooting process. Which is why, is important for you to have and maintain a good backup of your data.

If you have a Time Machine backup, a Clone backup or some other backup of the old iMac, then that can be used to restore the old iMac after a repair or migrate to the new iMac.
