Connecting Mac mini M4 2024 to Wiim amp

Hi,

I found it impossible to get any sound on my passive speakers coming from Mac mini (YouTube, bandcamp, Spotify, etc...) via my wiim amp, both linked by hdmi/hdmi 4k cable. Besides, I managed to select Wiim amp in Sound menu (Apple System settlings) as the output. Which connection Mac Mini/Wiim Amp do you recommend ? I could read somewhere I would need a Toslink optical/USB-C adaptor. Meaning usb-c cable (from Mac) --- tousling/usb-c adaptor --- toslink cable (to Wiim).

You have the Mac/Wiim amp connection set up for Airplay. I think that's the reason the HDMI out is not working for you. In the Wimm app setup, have you selected the HDMI input as the source input?

Regarding Airplay, I am not very familiar with the Wimm amps, but I found this article about using Wiim with Airplay. You may also need to select Airplay as the source input in the Wimm app.

1) I confirm it doesn't work with hdmi cable between Mac and Wiim.

2) I tried to operate something via audio midi app, nothing more successful happens.

I guess the problem comes from Mac settings. When I go into Sound menu (system settings), three outputs are offered: my Dell PC screen, the Mac mini speaker, and the third is WiiM Amp. BUT when I try to select the latter, a window opens and tells (you can see it below as a screenshot: sorry in French !), to set differently something within the Apple "Home application". Well, I had a look on that Home application and couldn't find any possibility to change the settings concerning wiim output. So to make it short, I can't technically choose Wiim Amp as the sound output.
