For iPadOS 26, to avoid conflict with window resizing, the corner swipe gesture with your finger is inhibited when using the Windowed Apps and Stage Manager multitasking modes - but remains available using the Full Screen Apps mode. In all modes, the corner-swipe gestures are accessible when triggered with an Apple Pencil.

You can also trigger a screenshot in any multitasking/screen mode by using the physical buttons; simultaneously press the top sleep/wake button along with the nearest volume button.

For earlier versions of iPadOS, in addition to using physical buttons, you can trigger a Screenshot with a finger using the corner-swipe gesture.

iPadOS 17/18

Settings > Multitasking & Gestures >

  • Swipe Finger from Corner - set to ON
  • Bottom Left Corner > select Screenshot or Quick Note as required
  • Bottom Right Corner > select Screenshot or Quick Note as required

iPadOS 16 and earlier

Settings > General > Gestures >

  • Allow Finger Swipe From Corner - set to ON
  • Left Corner Swipe > select Screenshot or Quick Note as required
  • Right Corner Swipe > select Screenshot or Quick Note as required

Trigger Screenshots with an Apple Pencil

You can trigger a screenshot using an Apple Pencil with a swipe from the bottom-left or bottom-right of the screen:

Settings > Apple Pencil > [Pencil Gestures]

  • Bottom Left Corner - select as required
  • Bottom Right Corner - select as required
