top ranking reply is useless how to downvote

I have raised a question on this community. received some really useless answers, but these are rated by the community as top-ranking reply.

I would say: it is my question, I did not receive a useful reply, I downvoted it, so how can it be the top-ranking reply?

Why is the vote of the topic poster not defining what is useful?

The forum software automatically picks a response as top rated. It seems to be AI generated, and since we all know how incredibly accurate AI is, the responses it chooses aren't always logical.

That choice will also move, depending on subsequent answers. I had one earlier today where I happened to be the first responder, and my reply was tagged as top rated. Another user later came in and posted a longer response. That one then was top rated. Not that length of a response alone determines a top rating. The criteria is unknown to we users.

But since these tags seem to be under the control of no breathing entity, I'd say just ignore them and focus on the responses themselves.
