why are some of them red?

Can't speak from personal experience, on this one, but this is what Grok had to say about it...


The red down arrow in Apple Music indicates that the song is a previously purchased item from iTunes (or matched via iCloud Music Library) that's stored in the cloud but not yet downloaded to your device. Tapping it will download the song for offline playback on your local storage.


This differs from the standard gray down arrow (often in a circle), which shows a song is already fully downloaded and available offline. The red version typically appears for owned content rather than streamed Apple Music tracks, which might use a gray or animated arrow during download. If you're seeing this unexpectedly, ensure iCloud Music Library is enabled in Settings > Music for proper syncing.
