How to create a bootable USB installer for macOS High Sierra (App Store link missing)

Hello,

I’m trying to create a USB installation drive for macOS High Sierra in order to reinstall macOS on an Intel Mac.

Unfortunately, I can no longer download the full “Install macOS High Sierra.app” from the Mac App Store — the official link appears to be unavailable.

What is the current Apple-supported method to create a bootable USB installer for macOS High Sierra?

Thank you in advance for your help and for any official, updated references.

FYI, most Macs compatible with High Sierra also can boot into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R (one exception is the Late-2009 iMac).

Edit: You may need to use Fix #3 in the following article if you get a "Recovery server could not be contacted" error message when using Internet Recovery Mode.
