I’d like to start using ApplePay when shopping online via Safari, using my iPad, with no iPhone available.
Is there a step-by-step tutorial for this? I already my Apple Card and savings set up in my Settings.

iPad Air
ApplePay must be setup separately for each of your Apple devices. To use ApplePay with iPad, you must register your Credit/Debit Card(s) in the Wallet & ApplePay section of your iPad settings:

You should note that ApplePay is entirely independent of registering your payment methods for AutoFill in Safari Settings - and, typically, you will populate your Payment Cards in both areas of your device settings:

Apple Pay does not use QR codes.
If there's a QR code presented, then that is not Apple Pay.
Websites that support Apple Pay will have a specific Apple Pay button like the following and will initiate the Apple Pay process directly. No QR scanning required.

The one covering using Apple Pay on the web, it simply said:
"You can make purchases using Apple Pay in apps, in App Clips, and on the web using Safari wherever you see the Apple Pay button." And then, "On an iPad with Touch ID: Authenticate with Touch ID or enter your passcode." So far, so good. But, there's no mention of what to do when presented with a QR code when checking out (which is what happened on a recent purchase attempt using a browser). Do I just use the Touch ID anyway, and the QR code will disappear? I thought I'd need to use my iPad to some how read the QR code in the browser...if that is even possible.
PS: I have tried using my iPhone 8 to scan the QR code, but it's not supported by iOS18 which appears to be required. (I know, get a new phone...but that needs to wait a bit. :-(
