Testing a used MBP prior to purchase
Purchasing a pre-owned MBP online. I have a limited number of days to check it over before I’m charged.
Is there any utility I could download to check all functions?

When the previous owner has followed that procedure, they will have installed the original "shipped in the box" version of macOS, and it will wake up and say hello in 17 languages when you power it up.
you will want to run the diagnostics:
Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support
You can transfer your files from an old Mac or its backups at that time, -OR- create a NEW unique Admin account and use Migration assistant later.
