Why would I receive the new Tahoe app on my iMac if it doesn't support it? Very worried that I almost messed up my whole computer.

There is no 24" 2019 iMac.
If it's an actual 24" iMac then it's at least a 2021 model with the M1 CPU which can run Tahoe.
Prior to that there were no 24" models except the ones from 2006 and 2007.
For 2019 models, there was a 21.5" 4K and a 27" 5K models. Both of which have Intel CPUs and neither of which can run Tahoe.
There was a 2020 27" 5K iMac with an Intel CPU that is supported for Tahoe.
But again, if the software Update option offered Tahoe, then it is compatible. Apple will not offer an incompatible update through Software Update at all.
Verify what you have exactly by going to the Apple Menu ➜ About This Mac option.
Thank you. You are right. Mine is a 2021. Don't know where i got that idea. Thank you so much. Problem solved. Getting old isn't exactly easy on the technology side. Thanks for your patience and explanations.

Because it's not on the list for the update. My computer is a 2019.
You will note that my 24" 4 port Mac 2019 is NOT on the list.
