Hi fox_m,
Agreed, but I'm asking about Final Cut Pro "subtitles" which FCP calls captions.
FCP offers the means to change their color and adjust their format (Bold, Italic, Underline). I've expected it to also include size and font type.
Settings > Accessibility > Captions provides both.

The font size of Closed Captioning is set by the options provided to the TV user by the television's manufacturer.
As far as I know, there is absolutely no way to provide, or even suggest a font size (or the font for that matter) of captioning.
Captioning is not about "design" — it's about "accessibility" for those who need it and their ability to choose what works best for them.
Settings > Accessibility > Captions is just like setting those values on your TV set — it only applies for your individual computer and will not affect how they are viewed elsewhere. If that's what you need, then that option solves it for you but I doubt it has any affect on caption appearance on other devices.
Thanks Meg, but.....
The Captions Inspector doesn't offer a means to adjust font size, so that article doesn't help.
Other instructions have said to adjust the font size in System Settings > Accessibility > Captions. I've followed that but it makes no difference in a current project open in FCP, even when I create them in a new project.
Other ideas?
Dick
