Need old iMac and new MacBook air to use same version of FCP

Have FCPX 10.8.1 on 11yr old iMac and 11.2 on a new MacBook. The iMac can't upload FCP 11.2 and can't process video edited with FCP 11.2 from the MacBook. How can I delete FCP 11.2 on my MacBook and install 10.8.1 so I can edit video on both machines?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.5

I believe (but have not tested) that 10.8.1 still works in recent OS versions.

You can copy FCP 10.8.1 from one mac to the other, using file sharing, airdrop, or an external drive.

As LocaAlicia said, Apple does no longer offer older versions, but this one you already have, so just as long as it works in the newer mac, it's ok.

But in time, with newer versions, it is bound to cease to work.

You have to decide if it is worth the effort to maintain both macs in an older version. Your new Air is a lot faster than the iMac, and there are new features that you'll be missing out on.
