Re: “Because MacBook Air is supported and MacBook Pro the same year with same Intel not supported.”

Nope. No Intel-based MacBook Air made the cut. (Apple released both the final Intel-based MacBook Air and the first Apple-Silicon-based one in 2020. The latter one is the only one of the two that can run Tahoe.)

As for the 13” 2020 MBPs, MacTracker shows that your model used “Coffee Lake” CPUs that appear to have been two generations older than the “Ice Lake” CPUs in the Four Port model.

Re: “So, i understand you correctly that on MacBook Pro 13inches 2020, Apple put older CPUs then on MacBook Air 2020?”

On the 13” 2020 Intel-based Two Thunderbolt Port MBPs, yes. The 13” 2020 Intel-based Four Thunderbolt Port MBPs got processors from the same generation as the ones in the MacBook Airs.

From MacTracker:

2020 Intel MacBook Air: “Processor: Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 (1000NG4, 1030NG7, 1060NG7) ("Ice Lake")” Processor Speed: 1.1 or 1.2 GHz

2020 Intel 13” Two Thunderbolt Port MBP: “Processor: Intel Core i5 or Core i7 (8257U, 8557U) ("Coffee Lake")” Processor Speed: 1.4 GHz (Core i5) or 1.7 GHz (Core i7)

2020 Intel 13” Four Thunderbolt Port MBP: Processor: Intel Core i5 or Core i7 (1038NG7, 1068NG7) ("Ice Lake") Processor Speed: 2.0 GHz (Core i5) or 2.3 GHz (Core i7)

If I am not mistaken, “Coffee Lake” processors are 8th generation Intel Core processors. “ice Lake” processors are 10th generation Intel processors.

It looks like all of these processors had 4 cores, except for the Core I3 in the cheapest MacBook Airs. It had only 2 cores.

Despite having older-generation CPUs than the Intel-based MacBook Air, your machine turned in somewhat better GeekBench CPU scores. I don’t know how their GPU performances compared. But neither made the cut.

Apple released two 13” MBPs in 2020 - a Four Thunderbolt Port model, and a Two Thunderbolt Port model with older Intel CPUs. The latter was a price point model that was close to being a 13” Retina MacBook Air.

Your model was discontinued when the 13” M1 MBP came out. The higher-end model was not discontinued until the 14” M1 Pro and M1 Max MBPs came out. Apple got the M-series chips by scaling up A-series designs from the iPhone and iPad worlds, so the entry-level plain M1 was the first chip that was ready.

The fact that your model had been discontinued for longer likely had something to do with why it did not make the cut. Only four Intel-based models did, and in each case, they were ones that had not immediately been discontinued when the first, entry-level Apple Silicon Macs came out.

The "Why" is because Apple is phasing support of Intel based Macs out of the macOS.

MacOS Tahoe supports only a very few Intel Macs and unfortunately yours is one that got the axe.

Apple have made it clear that the next iteration of the OS will not support any Intel Macs.

It's the price of progress. If you use any tech long enough you'll experience the disappointment.

it is not correct. My mac is only 5 years old. i think Apple should make this update for all Mac from 2020 or from non of them. and if it is price of the progress, then i think soon Apple might loose the mac users.

It is correct. Obsolescence happens regardless of our feelings about it.

Your MacBook Pro is still a very capable machine and potentially has many more years of productive life. Just because it cannot run the latest, greatest OS doesn't change that. MacOS Sequoia will continue to receive support and updates for at least the next couple of years. And when that support finally dries up then you can decide how you wish to move forward.

You're not alone in this and you weren't singled out by Apple. Try not to take it personally. It happens to us all, my friend.
