It could be that you might need a new battery in the iPad

Hard Reset the iPad

A hard reset can often clear the temporary software glitch causing the loop without losing data. The process varies by model:

  • For iPads with a Home button: Press and hold both the Top (Power) button and the Home button simultaneously. Keep holding until the Apple logo appears, then release both buttons.
  • For iPads with Face ID or Touch ID in the Top button (no Home button):

Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.

Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.

Press and hold the Top button until the Apple logo appears, then release the button.

Isolate the Charging Issue

The boot loop may stop if the iPad is allowed to charge without interruption or forced to shut down once power is detected:

  • Try a different charging setup: Switch to a different cable, power adapter, and wall outlet to rule out faulty accessories or power source. Allow the iPad to charge for at least an hour with the new setup before attempting a hard reset again.
  • Interrupt the boot loop (Low Battery Specific Fix):
    1. Plug the iPad into a wall charger.
    2. Wait until the Apple logo appears.
    3. Immediately unplug the charger as soon as the logo appears.
    4. If the device briefly shows the Home Screen before shutting down, immediately plug the charger back in. This should cause the iPad to shut down completely and charge without the loop.
    5. Leave it to charge undisturbed for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on normally.

Restore Using Recovery Mode

If a hard reset or charging isolation doesn't work, the next step is to put the iPad into Recovery Mode and try to update or restore it using a computer with Finder (on Mac) or iTunes/Apple Devices App (on PC or older Mac). Note: Restoring will erase all data.

  1. Connect to a computer and open Finder/iTunes.
  2. Force restart your iPad (using the steps above), but continue holding the necessary button(s) past the Apple logo until you see the Recovery Mode screen (an image of a computer and a cable).
  3. When a pop-up appears on your computer, choose the option to Update. This attempts to reinstall the software without erasing your data. If the update fails or if the boot loop persists, repeat the steps and choose Restore (which will erase all data).

If the issue continues after attempting these steps, it may indicate a deeper hardware problem (like a failing battery or internal component) that requires service from an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
