Safari not working, microphone and speaker issues, and slow performance after upgrading to macOS Tahoe

Firstly, Safari isn't working. Secondly, I tried to join a MS Teams call and it wasn't recognising my microphone, both the built in one as well as a plugged in headset. Then I couldn't hear sound from the speaker. I can't access sound in the settings. Neither can I increase the volume or reduce it. This is frustrating. Also, when using apps and browsers, things are quite a bit slower...

I understand you are experiencing a lot of apparently disparate problems. Normally I would suggest using Safe Mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support to observe any changes but some things (such as audio devices) will not function while in that mode.

Consider downloading EtreCheck, running it (there is no installation procedure) and posting its report in a reply to this Discussion. Instructions are here: How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report - Apple Community
