Draft e-mail message too wide, covering most of display.

Composing a new e-mail message, the draft message on my screen is more than 16 inches wide. I can reduce the height of the draft message, but not the width. This started about a week ago, and I have not figured out how to keep it from covering a good portion of my display.

I am using:

MacBook Pro 14-inch, Nov 2024
MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1
Mail Version 16.0
Apple Studio Display, 27‑inch 5K Retina (main display)
Apple Cinema HD Display, 23-inch, Model No. A1082

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.6

Try adjusting the zoom level for that message. In most email clients, you can find a zoom control, Command + Minus (Mac) to zoom out.

I would check to see what you could do in the Display in System Settings and adjust accordingly.

That didn't work either.

I'll attach a screenshot; the height can be reduced, but not the width.
