How can my child verify himself to use Apple Cash if he is only 15 and doesn’t have a drivers license for verification?

Apple says you can use Apple Cash for minors but the there is no way for my child to receive the money I send him because he is not verified. He is only 15 and only has a passport. How can I make this work?

iPhone 16 Plus, iOS 26

Someone of legal age in the Family Sharing group can verify themselves, and can share access with minors.

A minor cannot legally verify themselves.

Set up and use Apple Cash Family - Apple Support

Per Apple “Only available in the U.S. on eligible devices. To send and receive money with an Apple Cash account, you must be 18 and a U.S. resident. If you’re under 18, your family organizer can set up Apple Cash for you as part of their Apple Cash Family account, but you may not be able to access features that require a supported payment card.”

They’re spending from a payment card associated with somebody 18 or older.

Apple doesn’t send the notification. Green Dot Bank sends the notification. Apple is not a bank and does not issue or service Apple Cash accounts.

You have to setup Apple Cash for the child. The child cannot open their own account. Please review this support article on Apple Cash accounts.

Are you attempting to setup an account or did your child setup their own account?

Hi, your child can’t verify himself. Federal banking regulations restrict use of electronic wallets and individual accounts to persons 18 and over. It would be a violation of federal regulations for the bank to permit such use.

Basically, your child exaggerated their age when opening the account. They agreed to terms and conditions verifying they’re 18 or older. The regulations require proof when the funds transferred go over certain thresholds.

The bank will take a dim view of the child’s actions because they subjected the bank to fines etc.

I’m happy to answer questions and try to help you work through this.
