Unable to update iMovie on Mac

Ive been trying to update iMovie on my Mac. However, every time I attempt this I get the message "This Mac can’t connect to Apple Media Services because of a problem with (dads email)". I had my dad enter his Apple ID since we both used to share the Mac, this had him enter his Apple ID only to bleed to prompts that had me reset my own Apple ID password. I deleted his account on the Mac and logged out of my Apple ID and restarted my computer and logged back in. This solved nothing and I met with the same error issue. My Mac is fully updated and I am logged in on the App Store. I'm not sure what there is left for me to do.
