LG TV remote not controling Apple TV after ios 26 upgrade

I have an Apple TV 4K first gen that I control with my LG C2 OLED remote control, which I guess works via HDMI-CEC. I use this remote because the directional buttons are

much easier to use, and the Apple TV 4K remote jumps all over the screen and is extremely difficult to use.

The LG TV remote was working the Apple TV just fine for a long time, except maybe a year ago there was a few week period where a lot of us posted issues with TV remotes (LG, Sony, Samsung, etc) failing to control the AppleTV. Back then there was a software update that fixed it.

This now started happening again with the installation of IOS26. I have no choice but to use the remote app on my iPhone when it’s in this state. I can navigate through the menus to restart the Apple TV and then my LG TV remote works again for a day or too until it just stops working and I have to continually reboot the Apple TV.

How can I get this reported to Apple?
