How can I stop Find My alerts on child's Apple device?

No, I am not 'accidentally pressing on play sound'

This has happened multiple times now.

  1. I view one child's location on findmy
  2. that's it, I am literally not doing anything else!
  3. then I get a message from an (understandably) annoyed child asking "why did you do a findmy alert on my device?!"

This is absolutely crazy and really annoying.

How to prevent this and what is even causing it?

N.B. this only ever happens with one child's device and never on the other.

There is no alert when viewing the device location in Find My. When both people are using an iPhone 15 or newer, you can get directions to that person to meet up with them, but that requires a specific action on your part to Find that person after tapping their name in Find My and choosing Find. They would then get an alert to confirm you are looking for them and if granted you would see the Precise directions on your phone to meet up with them.

If that is not what you are experiencing, it may help to post a screenshot of the message your child sees on their device when you are simply using Find My for location viewing of devices.
